Born and raised in Paris, France, Margaux Lafond studied interior architecture and furniture design at the ESAG-Penninghen school in Paris and the Rhode Island School of Design.
After graduation, she joined renowned Parisian studio Gilles & Boissier (Baccarat Hotel, Ritz-Carlon Central Park, AD Interieurs and residential projects), where she focused on custom furniture design and fabrication, working with highly talented craftspeople and artists.
She then moved to NYC to work with ASH on The Siren Hotel, in Detroit, overseeing the design and furniture selection for hospitality projects.
She went on to work with Rafael de Cardenas at Architecture At Large on various residential and commercial projects such as Nordstrom NYC Flagship Store’s Broadway Bar,Rodarte exhibition for the NMWA in Washington DC, furniture for a private yacht and private residences in Soho, NYC, Seattle, WA and Aspen, CO, before starting her own studio in 2020.
Described in the press as ‘warm minimalism’, her work enhances natural materials that age nicely.
Combining craftsmanship, vintage and accent pieces, the interiors she designs are meant to be living spaces that reflect the owners’ personality and lifestyle.
With offices in New York and Paris, Lafond embraces what she enjoys the most from both cultures and translates it into her work, to offer a subtle mix of French art de vivre and artisanat with the American twist and boldness.
